
DCC Basketball Welcoming 50 High School Teams
DCC's 18th Annual Summer High School Basketball Tournament is set to tip-off on Friday at 10:00 am at the DCC Toepke Center and Washington Middle School. Around fifty teams from across Montana and North Dakota will be competing in what has become the biggest summer high school tourney in eastern Montana. There will also be an officiating camp that will be running in conjunction with the tournament.
This year, DCC has split up the boys tournament and the women's tournament. The boys tournament will be this coming weekend, June 13-14; while the girls tournament will be next weekend, June 20-21. Pool games will be played from 10:00am-6:00pm on Friday and elimination tournament games will be played on Saturday from 8:00am – 5:00pm on Saturday.
On Friday night at 6:30 pm in the Toepke Center, there will be a Cardiac Tournament. Teams will play games for one minute and thirty seconds with the winner advancing until a champion is crowned. This tournament helps the teams and the officials in end of game situations. It makes for a lot of pressure and a lot of excitement for the teams and the fans!
The 24 boys teams were separated into an Upper Division, Middle Division and Lower Division. The Upper Division consists of teams like DCHS, Scobey, Circle, Wolf Point, Miles City, Poplar, Forsyth, Glasgow, Morning Stars, Baker, Fairview and Malta. The Middle Division consists of Belt, Trenton, Brockton, Scobey JV, Terry, Plentywood, Jordan and Broadus. The Lower Division includes Miles City JV, Beach, Trinity Christian and Savage.
The 24 girls teams were broken down into eight teams in the Upper Division, eight teams in the Middle Division and eight teams in the Lower Division. This year the Upper Division field includes Baker, Lodge Grass, DCHS, Scobey, Circle, Mon-Dak, Froid/Lake and Wolf Point. The Middle Division consists of Forsyth, Fairview, Custer-Hysham, Beach, Terry, Plentywood, Brockton, and Brockton. The Lower Division has Scobey JV, Plevna, Beach JV, Lustre, Killdeer 1 and 2, Wibaux and DCHS JV.

Tickets for the games this weekend will be on sale at all locations. It will be $15 for both days or $10 a day.
DCC will also be conducting an officiating camp in conjunction with the tournament. Over 30 officials from across Montana, Wyoming and North Dakota will be participating. The Dawson Basketball Officiating Camp combines both practical experience and hands-on instruction with classroom learning. Participants will officiate high school games and receive valuable evaluation from certified referees in addition to excellent education on officiating topics during daily classroom educational sessions. Instructors include Jeff Risk with over 42 years of experience and oversees officials for four college conferences, Jeff Kent with 24 years of experience.
Perry Olson with over 20 years of experience, and Matt Shute who is the Frontier Conference Supervisor of Officials.
