Commit Returns to Hometown of Glendive
Justus Baker is returning back to his hometown to be a Buccaneer. Baker was born in Glendive and his parents both grew up in Glendive and graduated from Dawson County High School. Justus played at Beach High School, just across the state border in North Dakota.
"Justus will be a great addition for us," commented Dawson Coach Joe Peterson. "He has a great energy he carries with him all day long and he knows how to put in the work. His skill level handling the ball and shooting the ball is good and I really like his feel for the game. His character and the way he relates to others will make him an important part of our program and our campus community."
As a senior, he played in all 25 games, helping the Beach Buccaneers to a 15-10 record. He averaged 22.8 points, 5 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 4.5 steals while shooting 50% from the field, 30% from the 3 point line and 86% from the free throw line. He was selected All-District, All-Region and 2nd Team All-State. He was also All-District as a junior.
His Coach Ben Baker had this to say, "I'm super proud of Justus. He is a great leader, confident, hard working and loves the game. All of those factors make him a fun player to watch and coach. I'm excited to see him develop at the next level."
Justus shared, "Dawson not only has a great basketball program that knows how to win, but they also emphasize character; helping you become the best basketball player and the best person you can be."
