Harlowton's Kenyan Davis Commits to the Bucs
Kenyan Davis, a 6'0 guard from Harlowton, committed to the Dawson Community College men's basketball program recently.
"I chose Dawson because I firmly believe it is the most beneficial option to help me further my basketball career, and give me an opportunity to better my academics," explained Davis. Everyone is trying to prove that they can go play at a higher level making the environment very competitive which I love being a part of. I am excited to play under Coach Peterson and alongside teammates that I am familiar with."
As a senior Davis put up some mind-blowing numbers, averaging 31 points, 10.3 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 3.2 blocks and 2.2 steals per game while shooting 47% from the field, 37% from 3-point range and 70% from the free throw line. In his junior year he averaged 20.8 points, 7.5 rebounds, 1.4 assists and 2.4 steals while shooting 47% from the field, 30% from 3-point range and 70% from the free throw line. In his four years on varsity, Davis helped the Engineers to a 80-30 overall record and a District 5C championship as well as a Southern C championship in 2024. In 2022 they were runners up in the district and third place at divisionals.
Harlowton Coach Johnathan Olsen shared, "It has been a privilege to coach Kenyan over the past nine years. He is a special individual and player, the kind every coach dreams of coaching, but few have the opportunity to. We have had a very successful run, and Kenyan has been a major part of that success. He has grown into not only a great player, but also a great young man. We are excited to continue following his journey at DCC!"
"Kenyan has a high ceiling as a basketball player," commented Dawson Coach Joe Peterson. "I've had the privilege of watching him a lot over the past couple of years and he has a lot of natural ability. If he puts in the time and works hard daily, there's no telling how good he could be."
