
Bucs Sign Aussie Kuich Gatwech
6'8 forward Kuich Gatwech will be playing for the Dawson Buccaneers next season. Kuich played this past season for Baltimore City Community College where he averaged 10.6 points and 5.3 rebounds while shooting 53% from the field, 49% from 3-point range and 70% from the free throw line. He was their leading rebounder and 2nd leading scorer. He was named to the First Team All-Region XX Tournament.
"Kuich is really going to thrive in our culture and system at Dawson," said Head Coach Joe Peterson. "He has good length and athleticism but also a good basketball IQ. He is an efficient scorer, good rebounder and rim protector. I know he is really hungry for this opportunity and going to make the most out of it because of his strong work ethic."
During his three years playing for Red Roo Sports in Australia, Gatwech helped them win the 2023 AAU National Championship and he was named the MVP/ They also won the Oyiti Memorial Tournament. In his two years playing with the Collingwood Allstars he averaged 20 points, 10 rebounds and 2 blocks per game.
Gatwech shared, "I chose Dawson because they are a winning program, very family oriented and are all about hard work and dedication. There are all necessary things that will get me to the next level."
Gatwech will be playing in the P32 Sports Juco Showcase on May 17-18 in Dallas, Texas.
