Lady Bucs Sweep Another Series
Yesterday in Williston, ND, the Lady Bucs won both games 3-0 and 8-3 versus Williston State College. With these two wins, the Bucs swept the series, as they won their double header games at home against them on Saturday. These scores were 6-2 and 2-1.
It was Allie Anderson, freshman pitcher from UT, that was the driving force for winning. Anderson pitched all four games and held the Tetons to just 6 runs. She struck out 22, allowed 22 hits, and posted an ERA of 1.024.
Offensively, the team hit an average of .375. This included 39 hits, 6 doubles, 17 RBI's, 19 runs scored, and 7 hit by pitches. Samantha Maerz broke the school record for hit-by-pitches in this series. The previous record holder was McKenzie Harbison with 13 in a single season. Sam now has a total of 17.
"This series was extremely important for us to have a chance to host the Region Tournament," head softball coach Casey-May Huff stated, "Williston took a game from Miles, so we needed to win at least three of the four to stay ahead of the Pioneers. We still have to go play Bottineau, but with taking all four this past weekend, we have a really great chance now to host the tournament next week!"
The Lady Bucs will be headed to Bottineau this Friday to face the Ladyjacks in a four game set on Saturday and Sunday.
