Lady Bucs Put Up 36 Runs This Weekend
On Friday, March 28th, softball took on the University of Jamestown. It was a slow start as the Bucs only put up 6 hits and scored only 3 runs. The final of that game finished 12-3 for the Jimmies. The second game however, the Lady Bucs came out with some vengeance. Winning that game 10-2, the Bucs totaled 11 hits, 3 doubles, and 1 in-the-park homerun by Shelby Blankenship. Freshman pitcher, Allie Anderson, pitched 6 innings and only gave up 6 hits.
On Saturday, DCC faced the Mayville State JV team. The Bucs came out on fire, scoring 14 runs in the first inning. Ashley Hammers, Aya Larson, and Stocktyn Stevenson each had 3 hits. Hammers, Larson, Blankenship, and Nekysa Wright hit 1 double each. Stevenson and Larson each hit 1 triple. Totaling 23 runs to the 4 that Mayville scored.
Five Lady Bucs hit .500 and above this past weekend, two others hit above .400. Head softball coach Casey-May Huff had this to say about the weekend, "It is nice to finally see our bats coming around. Our preseason we saw some pretty elite pitching, which affected our offensive efforts a bit. The girls were hitting the ball consistently, finding gaps, and finally putting up some big numbers."
The Lady Bucs are back in action this Saturday at home where they will play Bismarck State at 1:00PM and 3:00PM.
