
Bucs Take Three Out of Four
The Bucs squared off against Lake Region State College this past weekend in a series of 4 games. The first game would see the usual game 1 starter in Ben Reinker take the hill. Reinker would shove 6 innings for the Bucs allowing 4 runs on 8 hits and sitting down 4 on strike outs. Jace Jarrett would follow and collect the save. Jarret tossed 1 inning allowing no runs and no hits while striking out 1 batter. The offense brought across 6 runs on 8 hits. Proffitt and Jarrett would lead with 2 as Salaverria, Phillips, Korte, and Hjermstad would tally 1 hit each. Phillips led the charge driving in 3 runs. He would score Jarrett and Reisdorfer on a double in the bottom of the first and would walk to bring in another run in the second. Adam Korte followed with 2 RBI's. Korte drove in Phillips in the first then scored Salaverria in the fourth. Juan "one sock" Salaverria would have 1 RBI on a sac fly that would Score Jarrett. The Bucs would win game 1 by a final score 6-4.
Game 2 saw the usual but dangerous Adam Korte on the hill. Korte completed yet another complete game for the Bucs. Korte has proven to be automatic for 7 innings in game 2 throughout the season so far, thus earning the nickname Adam "complete game" Korte. Korte allowed just 2 runs on 3 hits and sat down 9 on strike outs. The offense got moving bringing across 9 runs on 10 hits. "One Sock" Salaverria had a big game with 3 hits, Proffitt would follow with 2. Reisdorfer, Phillips, Hjermstad, Turner and Fox each had 1 hit. Salaverria had 3 RBI's, scoring Jarrett in the first then Jarret and Reisdorfer on a double in the sixth. Phillips and Fox would each have 2 RBI's, Phillips drove in Jarrett and Reisdorfer in the first. Fox would drive in Hjermstad and Bever in the fourth. Reisdorfer would drive in Fox shortly after for his 1 RBI and Nick Proffitt drove in Phillips for his 1 RBI. The Bucs won game 2 final 9-2.
Game 3 saw the almighty Canadian right hander in Zaydin Nyuli on the mound Nyuli worked for 4 innings allowing 4 runs on 5 hits with 3 strikeouts. Cody Mortenson would follow out of the pen for 1 inning allowing 1 hit and striking out 1. Bever would follow right after going 1 inning allowing 1 run on 2 hits. The offense fought from behind early, the Bucs brought in 7 runs on 9 hits. Reisdorfer and Turner would lead with 3 hits, Korte would follow with 2 as Proffitt, Salaverria and Fox would each have 1 hit each. Turner and Fox would lead the charge with 2 RBI's each as Reisdorfer, Salaverria and Proffitt would each have 1. The Bucs trailed early on but would deliver with big hits in fourth and fifth innings. Caden Fox delivered a big hit scoring 2 in the fourth. As Salaverria, Proffitt and Turner would all hit doubles in the fifth to put the Bucs ahead. Ethan Reisdorfer came onto the mound in the seventh and shut things down going 1 inning allowing 1 hit but ultimately holding on for the Bucs to win game 3 final 7-5.
Game 4 saw Keenan Hjermstad on the bump. Hjermstad went 3 innings allowing 4 runs on 6 hits with 1 strike out. Jarrett followed on the mound going 2 2/3 innings allowing 3 runs on 1 hit with 1 strikeout. Ethan Reisdorfer would be the final pitcher in the game, throwing just 1 pitch and recording 1 out. The Bucs brought across 5 runs on 10 hits, Salaverria led with 3, Hjermstad followed with 2 as Jarrett, Phillips, Korte, Fox and Turner each produced 1 hit. Ultimately the Bucs ran into some tough spots and came up short as the Bucs dropped the final game 5-7.
