Bucs Drop to Western Nebraska in Four Game Series
The Bucs wrap up a 4 game series on the road in Scottsbluff Nebraska against the Western Nebraska Cougars.
In game 1 Joel Bever would step on the mound for the Bucs. Bever would go 3 ⅔ innings allowing 9 runs on 6 hits, striking out 2 and hitting 6 batters along the way. Boede Rudd would follow in relief allowing 9 runs on 4 hits. Patrick Reno would close things off going ⅓ on an inning allowing 2 runs on 2 hits with 1 strike out. The Bucs Offense would only tally 2 hits coming from Brock Clonce and Dom Phillips. The Bucs lost 20-0 in game 1.
Game 2 starting pitcher was Ben Reinker. Reinker would go 4 innings allowing 3 runs on 2 hits while sitting down 6 batters on strike outs. Reinker would hold the cougars to just 1 run through 4 innings. Aaron Tekansik would come into the game in the fifth inning collecting 2 outs and allowing 2 runs. Cody Mortenson would follow shortly after going 1 ⅓ innings allowing 5 runs on 6 hits. The game was held at just 1-1 until the fifth inning where the cougars would tally 7 runs in the bottom frame. The Bucs offense would tally just 4 hits. Teegan Collins(1), Ethan Reisdorfer(1), Deshaundre Turner(1) and Adam Korte(1). The Bucs would plate just one run coming on an RBI single from Teegan Collins driving in Riley Bykonen in the third inning. The Bucs fell 10-1 in game 2.
Game 3 the Bucs would open with Patrick Reno on the mound. Reno would go 2 innings allowing just 2 runs on 1 hit while striking out 1. Adam Korte would follow out of the Bullpen going 4 innings allowing 5 runs (3 earned) on 8 hits while striking out 4. The Bucs offense would bring across 2 runs on 5 hits. Jace Jarrett(1), Juan Salaverria(2), Nick Proffitt(2). Both runs would cross on errors from the cougars defense as Jarrett would score in the fifth and Reisdofer would score in the sixth. The Bucs dropped game 3, final score 7-2.
Game 4 saw Zaydin Nyuli on the hill for the Bucs. Nyuli would record 4 innings of work allowing 3 runs on 5 hits and striking out 2. Juan Salaverria would come out after; going ⅓ of an inning giving up 5 runs on 2 hits. Lastly Aaron Tekansik would go 1 and ⅔ innings allowing 5 runs on 6 hits with 1 strike out. The Bucs offense got rolling putting up 10 runs on 8 hits. Jace Jarrett(1), Juan Salaverria(1), Dom Phillips(2), Ethan Reisdorfer(1), Nick Proffitt(1), Adam Korte(1), Riley Bykonen(1). Korte and Salaverria would tally 2 RBI's each, Korte scoring Proffitt in the second and Reisdorfer on a double in the third. Salaverria would score Jarrett and Bykonen on a double in the third. Reisdorfer would tally 3 RBI's driving in Salaverria in the third and then hitting a 2 run homer in the fourth. The Bucs unfortunately could not hold onto the lead near the end of the game as they let game 4 slip away falling 15-10.
The Bucs are back in action on March 12th in Tucson Arizona facing off against Minnesota West Community & Technical College.
