Bucs Open Up Conference Play With a Bang
The Bucs played their conference opener at home on Saturday against North Dakota State College of Science. Ben Reinker started game 1 on the hill. Reinker threw his second complete game of the season. He went 7 innings allowing 3 runs on 5 hits and striking out 6. The Bucs offense scored 7 runs on 10 hits. Nick Proffitt and Adam Korte would lead with 2 hits each as Jace Jarrett, Juan Salaverria, Dom Phillips, Ethan Reisdorfer, Keenan Hjermstad and Riley Bykonen would each have 1 hit. 5 of the 7 runs came from the long ball. Ethan Reisdorfer would hit a solo shot to left in the fourth and Jace Jarrett would deliver a grand slam in the sixth. Brock Clonce would bring in the other 2 runs on a catastrophic play. With the bases loaded and the infield in, Clonce would hit a hard ground ball that was fielded on a diving effort from the first baseman. The throw home was overthrown which would allow for Joel Bever and Aiden Zody-Cayko to score. The Bucs win a big game 1 with a final score 7-3
The dangerous Adam Korte would support a new hairdo as he started game 2 on the mound for the Bucs. Korte completed his second complete game of the year going 7 innings allowing 4 runs on 9 hits while striking out 5 in the process. The Bucs offense would plate 11 runs on 12 hits. Juan "One Sock" Salaverria led them with 4 hits. Caden Fox would follow with 2, as Jarrett, Hjermstad, Reisdorfer, Phillips, Bykonen and Teegan Collins contributed with 1 hit each.
Teegan Collins led the charge with 3 RBI's driving in Salaverria, Bever and Reisdorfer on a 2 out double in the first. Salaverria would have 2 RBI's driving in Jarrett both times on a single in the first and a double in sixth. Hjermstad, Reisdorfer, Phillips and Bykonen all contributed 1 RBI helping the Bucs to the second win of the day final score 11-4
