
Bucs Baseball Splits Games in Colorado
The Bucs traveled to Sterling Colorado this weekend, facing off against Northeastern Junior College. The Bucs would split with the Plainsmen finishing the weekend 2-2.
Game 1 starter Patrick Reno would put in 4 innings of work. Reno surrendered 10 runs on 10 hits, while striking out 3. Boede Rudd would follow, allowing 2 runs on 1 hit. The Bucs offense would score 2 runs on 4 hits coming from Juan Salaverria(1), Ethan Reisdorfer(1), Nick Proffitt(1) and Teegan Collins(1). Salaverria and Collins would tally 1 RBI each. The Bucs fell in the first game 12-2.
In game 2 Ben Reinker would step on the hill for the Bucs. Reinker would go 3 innings allowing 8 runs on 5 hits while striking out 4. Cody Mortenson would follow on the hill going 1 inning giving up 3 runs on 3 hits while striking out 1. The Bucs offense would only string together 4 hits coming from Juan Salaverria(1), Jace Jarrett(1), Keenan Hjermstad(1), Adam Korte(1). The Bucs would fall in the second game 11-0.
Monday the Bucs brought the boom. Adam Korte would start on the bump putting in 6 fantastic innings of work, allowing just 1 run on 3 hits with 6 strikeouts. A fantastic outing from the Canadian. The Bucs Offense would tally 10 runs on 10 hits coming from Jace Jarrett(2), Juan Salaverria(2), Dom Phillips(3), Ethan Reisdorfer(1), Nick Proffitt(1), Riley Bykonen(1). Bykonen and Hjermstad would tally 1 RBI each. Bykonen drove in Brock Clonce on a single in the second inning. Hjermstad would hit a sac fly, scoring Jarret in the third. Reisdorfer and Phillips led the charge with 3 RBI's and 1 home run each. Reisdorfer with a 3 run shot in the third and Phillips with a 2 run shot in the sixth. Joel Bever would come into the game in seventh giving up 4 runs on 4 hits. Aaron Tekansik would come in shortly after and Tekansik would shut the door. The big time outing by Tekansik helped the Bucs to a 10-5 victory in Game 3.
Game 4 would see another Canadian right hander in Zaydin Nyulli. Nyuli would shove for the Bucs. Nyuli would go 5 ⅓ innings allowing 6 runs on 5 hits while striking out 4 batters. The Bucs Offense was white hot in the final game scoring 18 runs on 14 hits. Juan Salaverria(3), Jace Jarrett(2), Dom Phillps(3), Keenan Hjermstad(1), Ethan Reisdorfer(1), Nick Proffitt(1), Adam Korte(2). Salaverria and Korte would tally 2 RBI's each. Korte would score Hjermstad on a double to center in the third and then would drive in Proffitt on another double to center field in the sixth. Salaverria drove in Jarrett on a single in the third. The Bucs offense would also produce 5 home runs. Salaverria would hit a solo home run in the first inning. Reisdorfer would hit a 3 run shot in the seventh, and Dom Phillips would leave the yard on 3 separate occasions; a 3 run shot in the fourth, a 2 run bomb in the third and would follow Salaverria in the first as the pair would go back to back. Reisdorfer, Salaverria and Phiilps would earn a total of 20 big booms from the dugout. Aaron Tekansik would come back for the sixth inning going ⅔ of an inning allowing 4 runs on 2 hits. In the seventh Juan Salaveria would come in to shut things down. Salaverria would give up 2 runs on 2 hits and ultimately get the final 3 outs and help the Bucs to back to back wins. The Bucs would win the final game of the series 18-13. Bucs Baseball baby that's what its all about.
