NJCAA Region XIII Basketball Tournament Set
The Mon-Dak Regular season has concluded and the teams are preparing for the Region XIII Tournament starting on Tuesday. The six NJCAA Division 1 teams in Region XIII will be competing for the championship. The women’s winner will get an automatic berth in the National Tournament while the men’s winner will get to host the District Championship Game with an automatic berth at stake. Because of COVID, all of the games will be played at the higher seed’s home venue this year.
The top two seeds will get a bye into the semifinal. The Lady Bucs of DCC finished as the #2 seed and will await the winner of the Lake Region at North Dakota State College of Science quarterfinal game Tuesday. On the other side of the bracket, #1 seed Miles will await the winner of the Bismarck State vs. Williston quarterfinal. The semifinals will take place next Thursday, April 1 and the Championship on April 5 at the higher seed. The Lady Bucs are 18-4 on the season and have won 5 straight.
One the men’s side, DCC will be preparing for a semifinal on Thursday against the winner of the Williston at Miles quarterfinal. North Dakota State College of Science will host the winner of the Bismarck at Lake Region quarterfinal in the other semifinal game. If Dawson wins the semifinal they will host the Championship Game on Monday, April 5. The Region XIII winner will host the District Championship on April 10. Last year, the Bucs won the Region Championship and fell one game short of Nationals when they lost at Indian Hills Community College in the District Championship. Dawson is 20-2 on the season and have won 10 straight.
