DCC Athletics Shining Bright

The Dawson Buccaneers Athletic Department is shining bright on and off the field! DCC is impacting Glendive, eastern Montana and the region while making its mark nationally. The Buccaneers are breaking records athletically and academically, and bringing in large numbers of students to the community while serving the campus and the surrounding areas in a myriad of ways. 

Over 150 student-athletes competed last year in eight athletic programs at DCC. Student-athletes represented 18 states and 8 countries, bringing much diversity to the college and the community.

DCC athletic programs won three championships and had and All-Americans and a Region MVP. Nine athletes were named All-Region and 11 were named All-Conference.

Dawson also achieved great success in the classroom. This year's athletic department set a school record with a 3.28 overall gpa. Seven of the eight programs earned over a 3.0. Softball broke their own school record with a 3.63 team gpa. Forty-six DCC athletes were recognized by the NJCAA on their All-Academic Team. There were 66 degrees awarded to student-athletes at graduation.

DCC athletes and programs also went above and beyond to serve in our community. In fact, athletes served over 3,500 hours in the community. Athletics also brought thousands of fans to the community and on the campus.

Many of these athletes are returning to Dawson next year, but at least 28 of them are moving on to compete at the four year level and continue pursuing their education.   

The Buccaneers will be looking to build on their successes as the next school year begins in August.
