Three Buccaneers Headed to NJCAA Indoor Nationals
GLENDIVE, MT – The Dawson Community College Buccaneers are sending three standout athletes to the NJCAA Indoor National Championships at Texas Tech University in Lubbock, TX, on March 7-8, 2025.
Nichole "Nikki" Roberts, Zion Jackson-Collins, and Fernanda Hernandez delivered exceptional performances at the Marauders Tune-Up Track & Field competition, securing national spots. Nikki improved her school record in the shot put with an impressive 11.46-meter throw, earning first place in the event. Zion shaved his 60-meter time from 7.32 to 7.28 seconds, while Fernanda slashed 13 seconds off her 3000-meter time for a new personal best and school record.
The meet was filled with personal milestones for the Buccaneers. Destiny Thompson, Raiden Bialorucki, and Moses Lawrence each set new personal records in the shot put. Erik Snell surpassed his school record in the same event, while long jumper Adrien Matuck also achieved a new press release. Distance runner Aydin Jackson set personal records in the Mile and 3000-meter races.
"It was very satisfying to see so many of our athletes perform so well in the same competition," said Head Coach Dempster Jackson. "Their hard work is paying off, and we're excited to see Nikki, Zion, and Fernanda compete on the national stage."
DCC continues to progress in track and field, with athletes pushing new boundaries and setting records. The Buccaneers will now focus on preparing for the NJCAA Indoor National Championships, aiming to make their mark among the nation's best.
