Record-Breaking Performance by Buccaneer Cross-Country Teams at the University of Mary Meet
The Buccaneer Cross-Country teams made history at yesterday's competition hosted by the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND, setting multiple personal and school records in a standout performance.
On the men's side, Peyton Summers shattered the school record in the 8K with an impressive time of 25:29, surpassing the previous record by 2:46 and finishing 11th out of 62 runners. Teammate Aydin Jackson also delivered a strong performance, placing 38th with a time of 28:20, narrowly missing the 2022 school record by just 4 seconds.
The women's team also saw remarkable achievements. Sierra Summers set a new school record in the 6K with a time of 22:41, beating the previous record by 4:12 and securing 18th place out of 58 competitors. Clara Haslem finished 42nd with a time of 25:46, ahead of projections, while Abigail Stewart ran 25:56, placing 48th and exceeding expectations. The Lady Bucs excelled against conference rival Bismarck State, with Sierra finishing ahead of all eight Bismarck runners and Abigail and Clara outperforming six of their Bismarck counterparts.
Head Coach Dempster Jackson commented, "We continue to train and make progress! The team's dedication and hard work are paying off, and these record-setting performances are a testament to their commitment."
