Lady Bucs Route Miles Community College to End Losing Skid
The Lady Bucs got in the win column Monday with an 88-57 win over in-state
rival Miles Community College. The game was tied at two early on but the Lady Bucs started to pull away late in the first quarter and took a six-point lead into the break. Dawson held Miles to eight points in the second quarter to expand their lead to 35-22 at halftime.
The Lady Bucs closed the door on MCC late in the third quarter closing the quarter on an 8-0 run to build their lead to 56-33 entering the fourth period. Miles Community College tried to mount a comeback but costly turnovers resulted in easy points for Dawson.
The Lady Bucs finished the game scoring 27 points off MCC turnovers. They also had a well balanced offensive attack with Imari Humphreys scoring 18 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. Eirini Chatzinikoli chipped in with 16 points and Taylor Evans scored 15. All eight of the Lady Bucs scored at least 6 points. As a team they also racked up 25 assists on 35 made shots.
Coach Mark Weber had this to say about the performance. "Getting that win will boost our confidence level. We have been playing better of late, just falling short in the late stages of games. We've had a lot of adversity this season with injuries and players in and out of the lineup. We still have Lucia on a minutes restriction so she can be at full strength as we head into post-season play. We still have some things to clean up, but we are peaking at the right time and our best basketball is ahead of us."
The Lady Bucs will be on the road for the final two games of the regular season. They head to Williston on Sunday and then follow up that game with Dakota College at Bottineau on Monday.
