Lady Bucs Pull Away Late, Defeat Dakota College Lady Jacks

In a thrilling rematch that had fans on the edge of their seats, the Lady Bucs emerged victorious, avenging a prior loss against the Dakota College Lady Jacks. Early in the game, with the score tied at six, The Lady Bucs closed the first quarter on a 15-7 run to take a 21-13 lead. Throughout the second quarter the Lady Bucs maintained their eight point lead and went in to halftime with the score 41-33. In the third quarter Dawson stretched its lead to 15, however turnovers plagued the Lady Bucs and the Lady Jacks closed the lead to five heading into the final quarter. Foul trouble caught up with the Lady Jacks and caused them to play 4 on 5 for the last one and half minutes and then 3 on 5 for the last minute. Dawson had five players scoring in double digits led by McKenzi Petersen with 24 points, Evelyn Old Coyote with 14, Breanna Old Elk with 13, Zoe Skeens with 13 and Alaina Woods with 12. The Lady Jacks were led by Amari Butler with 24 points.

After the game Coach Weber said'" I'm always preaching to the team to not play with each other, but for each other. Tonight we were moving the ball, making the extra pass, and it was exciting to see them buying in to the concept of playing for each other. 24 of our 32 field goals were the result of an assist."

The Lady Bucs continue their home game stretch and look forward to the matchup on January 31st against Lake Region State College which is faculty/staff appreciation night followed by a matchup with Bismarck State College on February 1st which is our annual Play 4 Kay night and we are hoping to pack the house in pink.
