Dawson Lady Bucs Lose Two Tough Battles

The Lady Bucs took on Northwest Community College and Lake Region State College in the second day of the Mystic Tournament and lost two very close matches.

First, Dawson faced the Trappers from Northwest in a four set loss with scores of 16-25, 18-25, 26-24, and 17-25. The Lady Bucs that lead the team in kills were Scarlette Schwindt with 13 and Brittany Kaufman with 8. Schwindt and Sierra Petesch chipped in 4 aces. Reece Fleming led the charge with 18 assists in the match and Lauren Rodacker ended the game with 19 digs.

In the second match the Lady Bucs took on the Lady Royals from Lake Region in a five-set thriller with scores of 14-25, 25-20, 25-21, 20-25, and 8-15. Schwindt and Kaufman were the leaders in the kill department with 17 and 12 respectfully. Fleming finished with 30 assists and led the team with 2 aces.

The backrow for Dawson were digging machines, having four girls finish with double-digit digs. Rodacker had 31, Kaufman 25, Schwindt with 18 and Fleming 11. The front row blocking was also on point during the match led by Alaina Woods with 2 blocks.

Coach Fritz says, "Today was a good day for us. We were pushed mentally and physically. We understand it is a long season and constantly want to get better. We can learn a lot from these losses and turn around and be better tomorrow."
