The Dawson Community College Lady Bucs volleyball team had their home opener Tuesday August 23 against the Dickinson State JV Blue Hawks and won in three sets, 25-18, 25-15 and 25-14.  The home opener proved to be successful by not just getting the win, but having a great turn out from students and fans.  The win came from excellent serving and passing from the Lady Bucs, resulting with a team total of 14 aces and 50 digs on the night.

Leading the team in aces was Grace Zeier (6) and Taylor Fischer (3).  Leading the team in digs for the match was also Zeier (17) and Natalie Edgar (8).  Mayson Moore led the team in assists with 13.  Edgar was the team leader in kills with 9 followed by Brittany Kaufman with 7.  Sierra Petesch was the block leader with 3 of the teams 8 blocks.

Head Coach Dina Fritz had this comment about her team, “The girls played really well for the home opener.  Sometimes having all the energy in the gym can make your adrenaline take over too much and make unnecessary errors.  The girls kept their cool, played tough, and took what we needed to change from opening weekend into this game. I am very happy with their performance and excited to start our conference season next week.”

The Lady Bucs go to Powell, Wyoming this weekend to play in a non-conference tournament on August 26 and 27 before coming back home to start their conference play on August 30, which will be a double header against Rocky JV (3pm) and Lake Region (7pm).
