Lady Bucs overcome slow start, beat United Tribes

The Lady Bucs ended their losing skid in Bismarck in a nail biting finish vs. United Tribes Technical College, winning 62-60. UTTC started the game hot from the floor, hitting a few three pointers to get the scoring started. The Lady Bucs ended the first quarter with a scoring streak of their own and finished the quarter ahead 15-10. The second quarter was tightly contested. Eirini Chatzinikoli hit a shot at the halftime buzzer to give the Lady Bucs a four-point halftime lead.

The second half was back-and-forth throughout. In the fourth quarter alone there were seven lead changes and the score was tied eight times. Clutch free throw shooting from the Lady Bucs iced the win. Dawson was paced by Kylee Old Elk with 18 points and 8 assists, Eirini Chatzinikoli with 15 points and a career-high 10 rebounds, and McKenzi Petersen with 13 points.

After the game Coach Weber said," This was a great game for us. We had a solid effort for four quarters. To hold this team to 60 points is a reflection of our commitment to improving our defense. Kylee held the conference's leading scorer to 7 points, 14 below her season average. This is a game we can build on."

The Lady Bucs travel to Williston State Sunday in what should be a tightly contested conference game, then the Lady Bucs will have a five-game home stand.
