Dawson Guard Sabira Ahayeva Going to Play in Connecticut

Dawson's Sabira Ahayeva will be moving on to the four-year level as well. The 5'6 sophomore guard from Minsk, Belarus, signed with an NCAA D2 program, the University of New Haven in Connecticut. Ahayeva explained her choice, "Choosing the University of New Haven is a tremendous blessing, and I am profoundly grateful for the chance to pursue my athletic and academic aspirations. It feels like the perfect fit for me, and I am excited to embark on this remarkable journey, filled with unforgettable experiences and opportunities for growth."

As a sophomore, Ahayeva was Dawson's third leading scorer, averaging 10.6 points per game (12.0 in conference). She led the Lady Bucs in free throw percentage at 83.3% and the second leading rebounder at 5.3 per game (6.4 in conference). Ahayeva started all 31 games this season. Her season high in points was 26 point against Miles Community College in their final regular season game. Ahayeva also had a season high of 12 rebounds in that game. She reached double figures in scoring in 21 games.
