Bismarck Takes Down Lady Bucs on the Road

The Dawson Lady Bucs lost to Bismarck State on the road Thursday evening 80-68. Even though they lost by 12, the Lady Bucs didn't give up until the final buzzer. It was a slow start for the Lady Bucs in the first quarter, but they ended the quarter strong to pull within six points at 26-20. The Lady Bucs then came back in the second quarter with their best defensive quarter to end the first half only allowing the Mystics to score 7 points. They outscored them 13-7 to tie it up at 33 at the break.

Throughout the game, it was a back-and-forth matchup, each team making runs to give them the advantage. Bismarck took control in the third quarter by outscoring DCC 23-18. In the final quarter, the Lady Mystics out played the Lady Bucs and finished with a scoring spurt to put the game away.


Leading the Bucs in scoring was Michelle Arens with 15 points. She also had a team high 8 rebounds. Coming off the bench, Shannon Burton and Evelyn Old Coyote contributed great
minutes and points. Burton finished with 10 while Old Coyote had 11.


The Lady Mystics played a great game, giving the Lady Bucs problems on both ends of the floor. Leading the Mystics was Sydney Gustavsson with a very impressive game high 32 points. Ashton
Kinnebrew also contributed 17 points.


Dawson is now 12-11 on the season and 10-4 in the conference. Bismarck State is 12-8 overall and 9-5 in the Mon-Dak. Dawson heads out on the road again on Sunday and Monday for
match-ups with United Tribes and North Dakota State College of Science.
