Dawson Softball Splits in Jamestown

Feb 27,2024

After a 2-2 split this past weekend, the Lady Bucs are now 6-2. They faced some tough oppositions in their games against North Dakota Science and the University of Jamestown. During the game against NDSCS, the Lady Bucs were down 7-1 going into the fifth inning, when they rallied back, scoring 6 runs to tie the game. They ended up having to play an international tie breaker, eventually losing in the bottom of the eighth 9-8. In their game versus UJ, they had the lead until the fifth inning, when the Jimmies scored six runs, making it a 9-5 ball game.

Overall, it was a good weekend for DCC Softball. Scoring 46 runs in four games allowed for everyone to play and contribute. "This is a big thing we talk about," said Coach Huff, "we tell whoever the starters are for that particular game to take care of business so that we can give other girls looks too. We place huge emphasis on playing for each other and clapping for others until it's your turn."

Eight of the girls hit over .300 on the weekend, six over .400, and 3 with 0.500 and above. Faith McDonald came in clutch, hitting two back to back homeruns and put up 11 RBIs for the weekend. In the circle, Faith garnered two wins versus Bismarck State College and Dakota College of Bottineau. Riley Price, freshman pitcher from NV, struck out 17 batters.

Your Lady Bucs are headed to Scottsbluff, NE this Thursday to take on Western Nebraska Community College. They will play on Friday and Saturday at 12PM & 2PM MST.
