After graduating from Billings Skyview in 2021, Garet joined Dawson Community College's cross country and distance track teams. During his time at Dawson Garet helped his men's cross country team qualify and compete at the National level his freshman year. This was the first team to ever compete at the National level for Dawson Cross Country. His team placed 26th overall. He leaves Dawson with a personal best in cross country of 28:56. He is currently finishing out his indoor track season as a Buccaneer this weekend, and then looking towards outdoor track beginning in March. He is looking to be competitive and improve his times from last year to finish out his time at DCC.

Garet commented on his signing with VCSU saying, "With leaving Glendive, I want to thank the community and the support of every person in this town. I'm so grateful for the opportunity Coach Chase gave me to improve as a runner, continue my career in college while getting an education. I want to thank her for believing in me and pushing me to be my best both as a runner and a person. Lastly I want to thank my family for always being there for me and always loving me no matter what. I will miss DCC and the community that surrounds it, but am so excited to see what the future holds!"

Dawson's coach, Alex Chase Wolff commented, "I'm so proud of how much Garet has grown as a runner and as an individual during his time at Dawson. I look forward to watching him continue to compete, as we will still get to see him often at meets. Garet has left his mark on DCC, and will be missed, but we are so thrilled to see him continue on at the 4 year level."
