Dawson Track & Field Competes at Indoor Meet

Dawson Community Colleges indoor track and field season is underway. Some of the team competed last weekend at a small open meet to get experience on the indoor track. This weekend the track and field team traveled back to Black Hills State University again to compete at the Dave Little Alumni Open.

On Friday evening, three Buccaneers competedin the long jump, where Chase Keating and Dallin Garner placed 3rd and 4th. Chase jumped a personal best in the long jump of 6.36 meters. Dallin made his college debut in the long jump this weekend jumping a solid 6.21 meters.

On Saturday, the rest of the team competed in both field and running events. Highlights for the Buccaneers included; the 60m dash where Dallin Garner placed 3rd in finals, the 60m hurdles where both Sawyer Haas and Robby Gress made it to finals, where Sawyer placed 5th and Robby 7th, the triple jump where Chase Keating placed 5th, the 200 meter dash where Dallin Garner also placed 5th, 400 meter where James Springer placed 8th, and the 800 meter where Eniah Boseman also placed 8th. The top eight finishers in each event score for the team.

“It was exciting to get out and compete against these four year schools and show up and be competitive. We had a number of athletes place top 5, and a number of others place top 10. As our program continues to grow, we keep seeing more success and I’m excited to see how the rest of our season progresses,” commented Coach Alex Chase Wolff.

The Buccaneers have the next weekend off from competition, but will traveling in two weeks to Fargo, ND to compete at the NDSU Open on February 4-5th.
