Buccaneer Outdoor Track and Field is Officially Underway

The DCC Buccaneer outdoor track and field season has started. The Bucs traveled to Lockwood, MT to compete in a condensed ice breaker meet on March 19th, but dived into full competition this weekend at the Yellow Jacket Open at Black Hills State University, racing against six other schools, all four year colleges.

Zach Austin stepped up in a big way this weekend and raced hard to edge out a competitor from MSU-Billings during his 1500m race. Zach ended up placing 2nd in his heat and a 3rd place finish overall, with a time of 4:30.97.

In the 100m Brayden Fraser took 8th place after having to rerun his original time due to outside circumstances. Then turning around for the 200m Jayden Fraser also placed 8th, with both beating more than 12 other competitors from four year institutions.

On the women’s side, Kayala Parisien battled it out with a full field of competitors in both her 1500m and 800m races, placing 10th in both races beating 11 competitors in her 1500m and 7 competitors in her 800m.

All the Buccaneers continue to improve each week and are looking forward to fast times and high places this Thursday, April 1st at the Battlin’ Bear/YellowJacket Open hosted by Rocky Mountain and MSUB. Competition for the Bucs begins at 1:00pm at Lockwood High School in Lockwood, MT.
