DCC competes at the Yellowjacket/Battlin’ Bears Open Track Meet in Laurel, MT

The Dawson Community College Track program competed in Laurel on March 30, 2019, in a very large meet hosted by MSU Billings and Rocky Mountain College.  Compared to last week in Spearfish, SD, the weather was sunny with a slight breeze which made for a cool but sunny day--ideal racing weather.

James Estey competed in the 1500m and the 800m races again.  James was able to run another personal best time for the 1500m in 4:40.85 and ran a 2:15.66 for the 800m.

Coach Sandy was pleased with his performance saying, “James is coming around from the winter training.  He is competing against other athletes who ran indoor track during the winter months and are a bit sharper than he is at this point in the season.  I was really pleased to see James racing this past weekend.  What I mean by racing is, when James came down the final stretch of the 1500m race, I saw him digging deep and pushing to catch the runner in front of him.  With every race, he will get used to pushing himself and getting in there and competing and racing, not just running in a race.”

The Bucs next competition will be April 13 at the Al Borke Open, hosted by the University of Mary in Bismarck, ND.
