Major Upgrades for Dawson's Toepke Center

Major Upgrades for Dawson's Toepke Center

Feb 12, 2024

Dawson Community College will be providing an enhanced game day experience at its last home basketball games on Thursday night. This past week, the college installed a brand new Daktronics Video Display that is twelve feet long and seven feet high.  It will be the only video board in the Mon-Dak Conference and the only one inside a gym east of Billings and west of Bismarck. It has the ability to play interactive crowd prompts, show highlights of previous games, display live game statistics, run sponsor commercials and so much more. It will make the game day experience even more fun for Buccaneer fans, and will also be used for recruiting, graduation, fundraising and other events.

Also installed last week were two new scoreboards in the gym, new shot clocks, backboard lighting and game clocks in the locker rooms.

Stockman Bank and Mid-Rivers Communications were the two big sponsors of the project and have their logos displayed prominently on the two new scoreboards. Other sponsors included Glendive Medical Center, MDU Resources, C & B Operations, Cetera Wealth and Cape Air.

There are still more opportunities available for sponsorships and advertising on the video board at several different levels.

The scoreboards and shot clock system that were replaced are the originals that were installed when the Toepke Center opened in 2006. They were outdated with technology, old logos and sponsors and replacement parts were no longer carried in stock. The new ones are state of the art with a new, fresh look and updated technology.

"It is exciting to see this day finally come," shared Dawson Athletic Director Joe Peterson. "We are so thankful to our generous sponsors for making this dream a reality. It has been a project we have been thinking about for over 5 years and have been actively working on for the past 15 months. Stockman Bank was the first to jump on board and get behind the idea and then Mid-Rivers joined in and it all fell into place. We already have one of the best small college athletic atmospheres in all of the surrounding states. Adding these features will elevate that even higher."

New scoreboards for the baseball and softball fields were also delivered last week and will be installed before the first home games in mid-March. Bravera Bank and Glendive Medical Center were the major sponsors for those scoreboards.
