Esports is in Full Throttle

Dawson Community College announced the addition of an esports team to their athletic department in early July. Once the announcement was official, Coach Wolff and Coach Wentz went to work. Since then, the esports program has signed seven athletes with more on the way. Athletes within Dawson County, other parts of Montana, and the surrounding states have jumped at the opportunity this program is offering them.

The esports program is continuing to prepare for the upcoming fall recruiting athletes and getting their gaming room set up with a lot of help from Mid-Rivers Communications. They are excited to get kids on campus and get started. Coach Wolff said, “The students we have already recruited are going to be huge in not only growing this program, but ultimately making a difference within the school and community because they have the opportunity to feel accepted, and find others who have similar interests. Not everyone understands gaming, but being able to give these kids the opportunity to find their voice and confidence through esports, and to spread that acceptance will be huge. We have such a good crew coming to join us in August and we are so pumped to continue to grow that team.”

The athletes who have signed and committed to the Dawson Community College esports team are; Chase Brown and Chance Senner from Richey; Calob Grigsby from Glendive; Chrystian Greene from Billings; and Daxton Harris from Utah.

The esports program is still looking to add more athletes, and the athletes and coaches are excited for the potential of this program and the opportunity this brings to both the school and the community.
