DCC’s Parisien Headed to NJCAA Cross Country Nationals Next Week

Dawson Community College will make their first appearance at Nationals in cross country this weekend. Kayla Parisien, from St. John, ND, will be representing DCC on November 9th in the NJCAA Cross Country National Meet. Kayla met the school’s national qualifying standards in her second race of the season, running a 21:01.46 race. Throughout the season Kayla finished top ten in two meets, and finished the regular season with a lifetime best of a 20:02.3 at the 5k distance.

Dawson Cross-Country Coach Alex Chase had this to say about Kayla’s season, “Kayla is a strong runner, she is willing to listen, put in the work it takes to be at a high competition level, and was willing to trust me from the beginning in this training process. She came into the cross country season with a great base of fitness from her summer training, and really dialed in during every workout and race this season. I am very proud of how much she accomplished so far, and now she gets to show off and celebrate all her success from the season at nationals!”

Kayla will run next Saturday morning, November 9th against over 300 other female athletes on the UMN Golf Course in Albuquerque, NM.
