The Dawson Community College Women’s Volleyball team hired Channa Clarin as an assistant coach for the 2019-2020 season. Clarin graduated from DCC in 2018 and is a native of the Beach, ND/Circle, MT area. Channa played volleyball her sophomore year at DCC when Coach Dina Fritz brought back the volleyball program. Following graduation, Channa lived in Kenya, Africa while on a missions trip with InterVarsity and in the fall she attended Oak Hills Christian College in Bemidji, MN for a year where she obtained a one-year Bible certificate.

Head Coach Dina Fritz said, “I am excited to have Channa back at DCC. Her passion for the game is going to be a great addition to our team and I am happy with how fast she has adapted to the coaching side of things.”

The new coach shared her thoughts, “I feel so extremely blessed to be given this opportunity. Although I have never coached before, I have played the game of volleyball for about 9 years. My sister and I had the privilege of traveling with DownUnder Sports to Australia and Hawaii in 2014 to play volleyball internationally. It is a fun sport and a good way for the girls to learn how to work together; not only as team players but also carrying those characteristics on in the future as fellow employees and coworkers in their workplaces. I look forward to being able to be a part of a team not only on the court but off the court also. I am interested in missions and anything related to natural health. I would like to obtain a license in massage and further education in nutrition and health. I’m very excited to be back in Glendive and a part of DCC. Go Bucs!”

Head Coach Dina Fritz will be taking some time off in the next few weeks and during that time Clarin will be filling in for her. Fritz says “I am confident that Coach Clarin will keep the team on track and pushing them to be better.”
