Lady Bucs Drop Two Close Matches Over The Weekend

Last weekend the Lady Bucs of Dawson Community College took on two of the top teams in the conference, #2 North Dakota State College Of Science and #3 Lake Region State College in two very close hard-fought matches. 

First up was the NDSCS Wildcats on Friday night.  The Bucs came out strong in the first set and were able to hold off the Wildcats to go up 1-0 with a 25-22 win.  The second set was another hard fought game that ended with NDSCS eventually tying the match with a set each after a 22-25 victory.  After the intermission, the Bucs had a hard time getting anything going and lost the third 13-25.  The last set was close once again, but the Wildcats ended the match with a 23-25 victory.  The leaders for the match were Shayna Baugh with 16 kills followed by Lexi Begger with 11 kills.  Samantha Youngman led the team with 38 assists and tallied 2 aces.  Harlee Speth led the back row with 24 digs followed closely by Cierra Loudon with 24 and Erin Campbell with 21.  Baugh also led the team in blocks with 5.5. 

On Saturday, the Lady Bucs had another hard fought battle when they took on the LRSC Royals.  After dropping the first two sets 23-25 and 20-25, the Bucs brought the home court intensity to take the next two 25-20 and 25-21.  The final deciding set was a back and forth battle with the Bucs eventually falling 13-15.  The leaders for the Bucs were Baugh once again with 17 kills and Begger with 15.  Nynah Bryant making her starting debut led the team with 48 assists.  Baugh also led the team in aces with 5 and blocks with 3.5.  Campbell led the backrow with 27 digs followed by Loudon with 25, Adalie Reinhart with 22 and Speth with 21.  The backrow was a force during the match ending the game with 120 digs total.  The Bucs are back in action for their second to last home game on Friday October 5th starting at 7pm.  This is the Bucs annual “Pink Night” to raise awareness for cancer.  So wear pink and come support the Bucs as they take on the Lumberjacks from Dakota College Bottineau.
