Lady Bucs Get Comeback Win against Rival Pioneers

The Lady Bucs traveled to Miles Community College on Monday October 8th to compete against the Pioneers.  The game started off in a thrilling fashion with the Bucs falling in the first set 26-28, but this was expected to be a tough match up between the two rival schools with neither team wanting to give in.  The second set, MCC took 20-25 to go into the intermission up 2-0.  The Bucs knew it was not over and that they had to come out and play one ball at a time if they wanted to get back into the game.  It started on the defensive side where the Bucs only allowed one server to serve more than one time in a row which led to a 25-16 victory for the Lady Bucs.  The fourth set was a high energy set where both teams didn’t want to give in but with a final surge at the end the Bucs pulled ahead to tie up the match at two sets a piece with a 25-22 win in the fourth.  Being in a fifth set is nothing new for this Bucs team as they have done it multiple times this year.  They pushed hard for every point and were able to pull ahead at the end to win the exciting five set thriller by a final score of 15-12.

The leaders for the match were Shayna Baugh with a dominating front row night once again, finishing with 21 kills and 7.5 blocks.  Lexi Begger came up with 12 kills and 4 blocks.  Harlee Speth added in 10 kills and 22 digs.  Nynah Bryant led the team in assists with 30.  Cierra Loudon led the team in aces with 4 and also chipped in 21 digs.  Erin Campbell led in the back row with 41 digs.

The Bucs travel to play Bismarck State on Wednesday, October 10th.  Bismarck is sitting in 2nd place in the conference and beat the Lady Bucs last month in another 5 set thriller.  Then they turn around and play Lake Region State College in Devils Lake the next day at 7pm central time.  Their last home game of the year will be Monday, October 22nd against Miles Community College.
