Two Lady Bucs Volleyball Players Receive Honors

This season, the Lady Bucs Volleyball team finished 6-6 in conference which placed them fourth in the conference.  With a strong finish, the Bucs are proud to have two girls that earned All-Conference and All-Region honors.  All-Conference is the top 10 plus an MVP for the season and All-Region includes the top 12 plus an MVP for the Region.

Shayna Baugh, a 5’ 11” freshman from Brigham City, UT earned All-Conference and All-Region recognition this past season for the Dawson Community College Lady Buccaneers.  Baugh placed in the top three in the All-Region voting.  She ended the season with 319 kills in 110 sets and averaged 2.9 kills per set.  Baugh had a hitting percentage of .256 and added in 174 blocks which ranked her #9 in the nation in blocks per set with 1.58.  She ended the year with 44 aces and 140 digs.  “Shayna had a great season at DCC in her first year.  She received Player of the Week once and now this is a great award for her to end the season,” Coach Dina Fritz said. 

Lexi Begger, a 6’ 1” sophomore from Wibaux, MT also earned All-Conference and All-Region recognition for this past season for the Lady Bucs.  Begger ended the season with 268 kills in 117 sets and averaged 2.29 kills per set.  Begger had a .285 hitting percentage and finished the year with 130 blocks which ranked her #31 in the nation in blocks per set with 1.11.  “Lexi has been a joy to coach the past two years.  She received this award last season and I am glad to see her come back and receive it again,” Coach Fritz added.

“This year was a great and exciting year for our team.  Coming into our second year with the program the team competed against high level competition and did very well.  Lexi and Shayna, along with the rest of the team, contributed to the success of our season.  I look forward to growing the program more and seeing what we can do in the future of Dawson Volleyball,” Coach Fritz says.
