Dawson Women Gas Out in Miles

Dawson Community College Women’s Basketball lost a hard fought battle in Miles City, MT on Sunday.  The Lady Buccaneers (3-3, 11-12) lost to the Lady Pioneers (6-0, 14-8) of Miles Community College 56-69.

Dawson controlled the first two quarters, leading the game at halftime with a score of 29-25.  Miles came out on fire in the 3rd quarter outscoring the Lady Bucs 23-11, as well as winning the 4th quarter 21-16.  The score was tied 3 times and there were 4 lead changes throughout the game.  Even though Dawson outscored Miles from the bench 15-10, Miles scored 18 points off turnovers while Dawson had only 9.  Miles also outscored Dawson in the paint 30-20.  The Lady Pioneers dominated the boards, outrebounding DCC 51-38.

Ashley Orozco led the Lady Bucs with 16 points while having 5 rebounds, 2 assists and 2 steals.  Ashya Klopfenstein was held out most of the first half due to foul trouble, but still managed to have 13 points and 5 rebounds.

The DCC Women will be on the road again in Bismarck, ND to play against United Tribes Technical College on Thursday, January 30 at 5:30 pm CST.
