In another late signing for Dawson Community College Women’s Basketball, the Lady Buccaneers got a commitment from 5’10 low post player Ervianne Cly from Monument Valley High School in Utah.
Monument Valley High School, led by Head Coach Theresa James, had a 19-6 season record this past year. They were District and Region Champions and placed 5th in the state tournament. Ervianne averaged a double-double for the Lady Cougars with 16 points and 12 rebounds, along with 6 assists while shooting 55% from the field. Ervianne played on the Varsity team since her sophomore year. Her honors include being the MVP every year for Monument Valley, as well as MVP in the Striking Eagle Tournament in 2017. Also in 2017, she led the Utah State 1A division in scoring average, was 1st Team All-State and Navajo Nation All-Star 1st Team. Her junior year, she led her team in scoring averaging with 20 points per game. In 2018, her accolades included being selected 2nd Team All-State, 1st Team All-Tournament, and again Navajo Nation All-Star 1st Team.
Coach James praised her MVP saying, “I am very proud of Ervianne and would like to thank Coach Lagmay and the Dawson Community College Basketball program for giving her this opportunity. The school and community are very proud of her. We know she will represent us well. Ervianne is an awesome young lady who has great potential and talent. Under Dawson’s basketball program, we anticipate that she will become a force to be reckoned with on the court.”
DCC Head Coach Romeo Lagmay, Jr. commented as well, “Ervianne has been a pleasure speaking with during this recruiting process. She’s on the ball about getting things done in general. I think her style of play will contribute in the paint for the red and black. We plan on elevating her game to the next level after her domination at the 1A division in Utah. If she continues her success here at Dawson, we will be blessed again with another good late signee.”
Erv is excited about her opportunity, “Basketball was just a game at first, then it became a dream, and now it’s coming true. I’m excited!”
