Ashley Orozco of Dawson Community College Women’s Basketball was named to the 2020 NJCAA Division I All Region XIII Women’s Basketball Team. She was the only freshman selected to the All-Region Team.
The 5’4” point guard from Canoga Park, CA was also selected as First Team Mon-Dak All-Conference. Orozco led Dawson in scoring with 15 points per game, along with 5 rebounds, 4 assists and 3 steals. She scored a total of 457 points (5th in conference) and shot 88% from the foul line. Her season highs were 31 points, 11 assists and 8 steals in various games. She posted 3 double doubles on the season. Orozco led the conference in free throw shooting percentage, was #2 in assists and #2 in steals. She was also named Conference Player of the Week one time. She scored in double digits in 29 of 32 games this season.
“I am extremely proud of Ashley and her accomplishments. She is a fiery competitor, and wants what’s best for her team as well. The scary thing is, she is still learning the game. She has potential to be even better. Ashley is a very good academic student as well,” said Head Coach Romeo Lagmay, Jr.
