Lady Bucs Outrebound United Tribes for the Win

United Tribes Technical College visited the DCC Toepke Center with lots of energy hoping to upset the Lady Buccaneers.  Dawson did not allow that by outrebounding the Lady Thunderbirds 46-35, and scoring 22 points off turnovers to win the ball game 68-54.

The Lady Thunderbirds entered the game shooting a very solid 80% from the foul line in conference, but only managed to shoot 50% on the night, while DCC shot 69%.  Dawson also shot a solid 43% from the field.  Fifteen points off the bench also contributed to the victory as well.

Sarah Miranda led the game with a double double of 23 points and 11 rebounds, along with 2 steals and 3 defensive charges.  Key reserve Tasia Moore scored 14 points and had 5 rebounds.  Chynna Torrence scored 10 points and grabbed 6 rebounds.  Ejanae Coopwood also had 10 points, along with 5 rebounds and 2 steals. Point guard Kitawna Little Light chipped in 6 points, 4 assists, and 3 steals.

Head Coach Romeo Lagmay, Jr. commented, “It was good to bounce back from a devastating loss only a few days ago.  To have that sort of resiliency is always good to have in conference play.  Having fought hard on the boards was our way of showing we will always fight hard.  The team did well in protecting our home court.”

Dawson Community College will travel on the road to Bismarck, ND on Monday, February 4 at 5:30 pm to face Bismarck State College for the first time in conference play.
