With an overall record of 18-14 and a 4th place conference standing, the Dawson Community College Women’s Basketball team added to their 3rd consecutive winning season by having three Lady Buccaneers be selected to the Mon-Dak All-Conference team.
There were two DCC players selected First Team All-Conference. Sophomore Alexius Foster was again selected to the first team for the second straight year. Foster, from Tacoma, WA, was the conference’s 3rd leading scorer, averaging 20 points per game. She scored 617 points this season, making her second on the conference list of most points and eighth in the nation for NJCAA Division 1. Foster has an official total of 1,191 points in her two year career at Dawson, and became the 2nd All-Time leading scorer in the history of DCC.
Sophomore Ejanae Coopwood of Las Vegas, NV, was also selected 1st Team All-Conference. Coopwood was voted Player of the Week one time this past season, and was the leader in steals in conference for most of the season. She ended the season averaging 3.0 steals, just behind the league leader who averaged 3.1. Coopwood also averaged 13 points and 6 rebounds per game. She was ranked #5 in the conference in rebounding, #3 in blocked shots and #1 in offensive rebounds with three per game. Coopwood became the all time leader in steals at Dawson with a total of 165 and led her team in blocked shots with 28. This past season, she collected 97 steals, ranking her #9 in the nation.
Freshman Sarah Miranda of Van Nuys, CA, was selected 2nd Team All-Conference. Sarah was second on the team in steals with 76. She averaged 14.5 ppg and 6.5 rpg in conference play. Miranda had a 30 point game this season against the #2 conference team, North Dakota State College of Science. She was also ranked #6 in the conference in rebounding, #5 in steals and #3 in blocked shots. Like teammate Coopwood, she was tied for first on the team in blocked shots with 28.
