Dawson Women Basketball Control Rocky Mountain JV

Before celebrating the holiday break, the Dawson Community College Women’s Basketball defeated the Lady Battlin’ Bears of Rocky Mountain College JV 69-51.

DCC handled Rocky for most of the game, except in the second quarter when Rocky used their Battlin’ mascot approach and trailed by 2 points managing to stay within striking distance going into the half down nine points 36-27.

Dawson would come out confident in the second half shooting 41% from the field and an amazing 50% from beyond the arc.  The Lady Buccaneers would also outrebound Rocky 65-50 in addition to scoring 35 points in the paint to Rocky’s 20.  DCC also had 17 second chance points, while Rocky only 4.

Alexius Foster would lead the game in scoring with 25 points, while having 6 rebounds.  Continuing to be on fire from previous games, Kitawna Little Light scored 19 points, grabbed 4 rebounds, but had 4 turnovers.  Little Light shot 5-7 from 3 point range.  Ejanae Coopwood had a game high of 9 rebounds and chipped in with 8 points.

Head coach Romeo Lagmay, Jr. was very happy about the team’s overall performance, “I thought the team did well in holding their composure when Rocky made a run in the 2nd and 4th quarters.  We can clearly see a few of our players starting to have more confidence and understand their individual roles for the overall good of the team success.”

The Lady Buccaneers don’t really have time to enjoy the holiday festivities as they will be travelling to Twin Falls, ID where they face College of Southern Idaho on Friday, November 23rd at 7:30pm.  They continue to play in the Thanksgiving Classic on Saturday vs. Treasure Valley Community College of Ontario, OR.
