Women's Basketball Has Successful Play 4Kay Pink Night

Dawson Community College Women’s Basketball won the ball game against Dakota College at Bottineau 74-67 on Monday, but February 18th was an extra special day.  The Lady Bucs hosted their 5th annual Play 4Kay pink night.  The night was festive with the Toepke Center being fully decorated in pink fashion, both women’s and men’s coaching staff wore pink attire as well as the Lady Bucs warming up in pink tee shirts and playing in pink shoelaces and socks.  The nets and game ball also had a pink accent to them.  With many in attendance supporting the efforts, the DCC Associated Student Body decorated the Toepke Center Commons with an array of pink and white balloons.  The women’s basketball team assisted in plastering the entire gym with a variety of pink ensembles of decorations: scorer’s table, bleachers, walls and the upper deck track rails.

The Dawson Community College Lady Buccaneers took part in the annual awareness campaign this past week by raising $1,200 with the help of students and staff of DCC, community members and men’s basketball.  Many local businesses in the Glendive community donated over 70 prizes for the raffle tickets being sold by each Lady Buc.  Raffle prizes were sold during both women’s and men’s basketball games, and there were prizes being awarded continuously throughout the night.  The event was also promoted through social media, press releases, flyers and other related media outlets.

Wearing his traditional pink t shirt, with pink fingernails and a pink earring, along with pink LED light shoelaces, Head Coach Romeo Lagmay said, “Since my arrival at DCC, the annual Play 4Kay national fundraising campaign has been growing more and more in Glendive.  It becomes a true success every year as we are thankful for the support and promotional efforts by the DCC student body and the rest of the entire campus as well as the Glendive community and businesses.”
