Lady Bucs Basketball Continue Win Streak at 5

Dawson Community College Women’s Basketball did it again, winning their fifth straight game this time against the Eastern Montana All-Stars 86-51.  The Lady Bucs are now 10-6 on the season, and are hoping to carry that winning momentum into official conference play this Thursday, January 10 on the road in Bismarck, ND against United Tribes Technical College at 5:30 pm.

After a two week holiday break and a week of two-a-day practices, DCC seemed to be back in solid shape, and came out on fire with their first game of the year.  DCC came out strong striking 31-7 in the first quarter.  However, the All-Stars with a full roster of experienced Montanans, had a run of their own, winning the second quarter 17-13.

Dawson would command the second half of the game by winning both quarters.  Coach Romeo Lagmay, Jr. would play 12 Lady Bucs with 10 to be in the scoring column.  DCC only had 10 turnovers for the game along with 17 steals.  Of the 26 turnovers committed by the All-Stars, Dawson would score 39 points.  With all 12 Lady Bucs playing, 36 points came off the bench.  Dawson led by as many as 40 points at one point.

Coach Lagmay was comfortable with the win, “It feels good to have winning momentum going into conference play.  We know that the competition will step up here very soon, but the culture of winning brings lots of confidence to the team.  With tonight’s efforts, I’m sure the team is ready for conference play.”

Kitawna Little Light led the game with 17 points and 7 assists.  Ejanae Coopwood contributed 12 points and 4 rebounds.  Mara Johnson chipped in with 11 points and 3 rebounds.
