Women’s Basketball Bounce Back with Win in Bottineau
Winning their second conference road game, the Lady Bucs of Dawson Community College defeated the Lady Lumberjacks of Dakota College at Bottineau 83-64. After suffering a terrible loss last week in Glendive, DCC was able to bounce back and regain their focus to get back in the winning column.

In the first half of the game, both teams kept it very close in scoring range within and went into halftime with Dawson leading 41-39. The game would include 5 tied scores and 6 lead changes. Dawson came out strong beginning the second half by outscoring Dakota College 19-12. The Lady Lumberjacks would lose every quarter as DCC would finish the fourth quarter by winning it 23-13. DCC also outrebounded their opponent by a huge margin 51-33. Dakota College committed 20 turnovers, and Dawson would capitalize with 16 points from them. In the second chance points column, Dawson had 25 while Dakota had 8. Shooting percentages for the Lady Bucs went well making 38% from the field, 39% from the 3 point line, and 78% from the free throw line.

Having consistent outstanding stats the last four games, freshman Sarah Miranda had 16 points, while having 7 rebounds, and 5 steals. Ejanae Coopwood scored 16 points, 3 assists, 5 steals and a game high 10 rebounds. Alexius Foster lead the team with 17 points with 8 rebounds and 2 assists. Kitawna Little Light added 10 points, along with 5 rebounds and 3 steals. Chynna Torrence chipped in with 4 points and 5 rebounds. Centoria Roberts came off the bench to score 10 points.  The DCC bench outscored DCB 20-7.

A pleased Head Coach Romeo Lagmay, Jr. gave his outlook on the game, "Dakota came out strong. I knew we were in for a tough game because they were short-handed with players and won their last game upsetting United Tribes without their top scorer. With these variables at stake, those types of teams get strong quickly together. I was just glad we were able to be resilient throughout the game, and the ladies were able to stay composed and follow the plan of execution. I was also really pleased to see our bench production come into fruition."

Dawson will return home to play this Thursday, January 24 at 5:30 pm facing off against Williston State College for the first time this season.
