Lady Bucs Defeat Lady Jacks

Apr 11. 2024

It was a cold, windy, and rainy day on Wednesday here in Glendive. It wasn't enough to hold down Dawson's bats. Carrying the most was Samantha Maerz who drove in six runs on three hits to drive the Bucs past Dakota College at Bottineau 22-0. Maerz doubled in the third scoring three, hit a homerun to left field in the second scoring two, and singled in the first to score one run.

Nekysa Wright, Brooke Lijewski, and Maerz each hit a homerun. Shelby Blankenship hit a triple. Ashley Hammers, Maerz, and Lijewski all doubled throughout the game. Overall, DCC collected 19 hits in just five innings.

On the mound was Faith McDonald. She threw five innings, faced 18 batters, allowed only two hits and struck out seven. This had her finish the game with a 0.118 ERA.

During the second game, the Bucs were hot in the box again. Scoring 20 runs in five innings, the final score ended 20-2. Faith collected three hits in four at bats. This came with a homerun and two singles.

Ashley Hammers was in the circle for the Lady Bucs. She struck out 10 batters, allowed three hits and two runs over five innings.

There were multiple hits by 12 players this game. Stocktyn Stevenson, McDonald, and Lijewski all hit home runs.

DCC will be back in action on Saturday and Sunday April 13-14. They will face NDSCS at 1:00PM & 3:00PM on Saturday and 12:00PM & 2:00PM on Sunday.
