Dawson falls one game short of nationals

The Dawson Community College Lady Bucs Softball Team fell one game short of their first D2 National Tournament appearance.  The Lady Bucs won Game 1, but Kirkwood Community College came back to win the next two games to claim the District H Championship. Thursday's decisive game was fairly close through the first few innings. Kirkwood scored their first run on a long bomb by London Jackson. It was her 23rd on the year (2nd best in the nation). The Lady Bucs answered back with a two run homer from freshman Ashlyn Tingey. But those were the only runs Dawson would score on the day. The Eagles scored two more in the fifth inning, three more in the sixth inning and put it away with nine in the seventh inning to win the championship and qualify for Nationals.

Dawson ended the season 43-5. It was their best season ever at the D2 level and the closest they had ever come to Nationals. With only 6 sophomores on the team this year,  they should be back next year and knocking on the door for a trip again to the National Tournament.
