In their first matchup on neutral ground in Arizona, Dawson Community College Softball takes tough blows from Seward County Community College of Kansas. DCC couldn't keep up with Seward County and fell 9-0 on Monday.
One bright spot for the Lady Bucs was a single by Reannon Justice in the second inning. Ashley got the start for Seward. She allowed five hits and zero runs over six innings, striking out six and walking zero. Hailee Gregerson started the game for Dawson. She lasted five and two-thirds innings, allowing ten hits and nine runs while striking out three. Jayden Draper threw one-third of an inning out of the bullpen. Draper led the Lady Buccaneers with two hits in three at bats.
Seward racked up 11 hits in the game. Epp, Harrison, and Porras all had multiple hits for Seward County Community College.
In the second game, the early lead for Seward County Community College sealed fate for the Lady Buccaneers. Dawson watched the game slip away early and couldn't recover in an 8-3 loss. Seward took the lead on a home run in the second inning.
Seward got on the board in the second inning. Epp drove in three when she homered. Dawson notched three runs in the fifth inning. Anna Snyder and Trinity Anderson all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning. Anna Snyder had her first home run of the season.
Seward scored five runs in the third inning. Seward County batters contributing to the big inning included Nester, Atleberry, and Ammermann, all driving in runs in the frame. Cordey got the start for Seward. She allowed six hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out three and walking one.
Mckenna Sorenson was on the mound for the Lady Bucs. She allowed eight hits and eight runs over three innings, striking out one. Jordyn O'Neal threw three innings out of the bullpen. Anderson led Dawson with two hits in four at bats. Dawson was sure-handed and didn't commit a single error. Jayden Draper made the most plays with seven.
