Dawson Split Again in Arizona

Dawson Softball Lady Buccaneers split again in Arizona.  In the first game, they jumped out to an early lead in victory over Scottsdale Community College 6-5.  Dawson scored on an error in the first inning, a double by Sidra Montoya, and an error in the second inning.  Lady Bucs earned the victory despite allowing Scottsdale Community College to score three runs in the first inning.  Valles, Torress, and Gutienez powered the big inning with RBIs.

Scottsdale knotted the game up at three in the bottom of the first inning, when Gutienez drew a walk, scoring one run.  Dawson pulled away for good with one run in the second inning. In the second, an error scored one run for the Lady Bucs.   Hailee Gregerson was on the mound for Dawson. She lasted seven innings, allowing eight hits and five runs while striking out one.

Smith got the start for Scottsdale. She allowed 12 hits and six runs over seven innings, striking out one and walking one. Dawson saw the ball well today, racking up 12 hits in the game. Kylee Hergenrider, Lexi Pettersen, and Jayden Draper all managed multiple hits for Dawson. Draper, Pettersen, and Hergenrider each collected two hits to lead Dawson.  Scottsdale Community College collected eight hits on the day.  Valles, Lopez, and Ganibry each managed multiple hits.

However, in the second game, Scottsdale Community College ran away with an early lead in the beginning causing Dawson to fall behind early and couldn't come back in a 16-7 loss on Wednesday. Scottsdale scored on a double by Martinez, an error, a single by Gutienez, and a groundout by Vidal in the first inning.

Despite the loss, Dawson did collect eight hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Scottsdale had 14 hits on the way to victory.  Scottsdale got things started in the first inning when Martinez doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs.

Lady Bucs tallied five runs in the fifth inning.  Sidra Montoya, Hailee Gregerson, Jayden Draper, and Reannon Justice each drove in runs during the inning. Scottsdale Community College scored six runs in the fourth inning.  Scottsdale offense in the inning was led by Adams, Martinez, Valles, Ro mero, and Castellano, all driving in runs in the frame.  Shull led things off on the hill for Scottsdale. She allowed eight hits and seven runs over five innings, striking out three.

Jordyn O'Neal led things off on the hill for Dawson. She went one inning, allowing nine runs on five hits and striking out one. Mckenna Sorenson threw three innings in relief.  Trinity Anderson went 2-for-3 at the plate to led the Lady Buccaneers in hits.

Scottsdale College collected 14 hits on the day.  Martinez, Castellano, Gu tienez, and Adams each had multiple hits for Scottsdale. Martinez led Scottsdale with four hits in four at bats.
