DCC Tops Lake Region for 3 Games

Dawson Community College Softball Takes the Win Over Lake Region State College in Game #1

Dawson Community College Softball took home a 6-1 victory over Lake Region State College on Saturday. Lake Region State College got on the board in the second inning when Selfe hit a solo homer. Dawson pulled away for good with two runs in the third inning. In the third, Reannon Justice grounded out, scoring one run and Anna Snyder singled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run. Lady Bucs tallied three runs in the fourth inning. Trinity Anderson, Lexi Pettersen, and Jayden Draper all contributed in the big inning with RBIs. Hailee Gregerson got the start for Dawson. She lasted seven innings, allowing two hits and one run while striking out nine and walking one.

Selfe led things off on the hill for Lake Region. She surrendered six runs on ten hits over six innings, striking out four. Dawson tallied ten hits on the day. Jordyn O'Neal, Lexi Pettersen, and Trinity Anderson all managed multiple hits for Dawson. Anderson, Pettersen, and O'Neal each collected two hits to lead the Lady Bucs. DCC didn't commit a single error in the field. Snyder had nine chances in the field, the most on the team. Coach LeProwse stated, “The team did a great job of executing and scoring runs when we had runners in scoring position. Hailee Gregerson did a great job in the circle allowing just 2 hits. When she throws like that we will be tough to beat.”

Mckenna of DCC Shuts Out Lake Region State College in Game #2

Mckenna Sorenson had all the right stuff on Saturday for Dawson, allowing zero runs and besting Lake Region State by a score of 5-0. One bright spot for Lake Region State was a single by Waldo in the first inning.

Sorenson toed the rubber for Dawson. She lasted seven innings, allowing six hits and zero runs while striking out six and walking zero. Stewart started the game for Lady Royals. She allowed eight hits and five runs over six innings, striking out six and walking zero.

Lady Bucs racked up eight hits on the day. Trinity Anderson, Katelyn Teixeira, and Reannon Justice each racked up multiple hits for Dawson. Justice, Teixeira, and Anderson all had two hits to lead Dawson. Waldo led Lake Region with two hits in three at bats.

Coach LeProwse said he was real pleased with his team’s performance. “We had one big inning and that is all that we needed to win this one. McKenna did a great job of pitching a shutout in this one.”

Dawson Sets the Stage for Victory in Game #3 with Early Lead Over Lake Region State

Dawson Community College grabbed an early lead on its way to a 9-6 victory over Lake Region State College on Sunday. Dawson scored on a sacrifice fly by Jayden Draper in the first inning, a passed ball during Anna Snyder's at bat in the first inning, and a sacrifice fly by Trinity Anderson in the second inning. The base paths were crowded in this high-scoring game. Dawson collected five hits and Lake Region had six.

Lake Region State College knotted the game up at two in the bottom of the first inning, when an error scored one run for the Lady Royals. After the Lady Bucs scored two runs in the top of the sixth, Lake Region answered with two of their own. Dawson  scored when Draper tripled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run. Lady Buccaneers pulled away for good with one run in the second inning. In the second, Anderson's sac fly scored one run for Dawson. Lady Bucs put up three runs in the fourth inning. Dawson Softball's big inning was driven by a sac fly by Anderson, a groundout by Katelyn Teixeira, and an error on a ball put in play by Kylee Hergenrider. Hailee Gregerson led things off on the hill for Dawson. She surrendered six runs on six hits over seven innings, striking out seven.

Selfe led things off on the hill for Lake Region State College. She allowed two hits and six runs over four innings, striking out two. Karl threw three innings in relief.

Gregerson led Dawson  with two hits in three at bats. Dawson stole eight bases during the game as two players stole more than one. Wyniah Mintz led the way with two. Schilling went 2-for-4 at the plate to lead Lake Region State in hits. Coach LeProwse said that, “it was great getting the win in this one. We jumped out to a big lead and held it for most of the game. Lake Region did a great job of battling back from a seven run deficit and making the game closer at the end. We did a great job of keeping our composure at the end to secure the win.”

Lake Region Bests Dawson Softball 2-1 in Close Game #4

Both teams were strong on the mound on Sunday, but Lake Region State was just a little bit stronger at the plate in a victory over Dawson Softball on Sunday. Mckenna Sorenson started the game for Dawson and recorded 18 outs.

Stewart got the start for Lake Region State College. She allowed one hit and one run over seven innings, striking out seven. Sorenson toed the rubber for the Lady Bucs. She lasted six innings, allowing seven hits and two runs while striking out four.

Kylee Hergenrider led Dawson with one hit in three at bats. Dawson  didn't commit a single error in the field. Hergenrider had five chances in the field, the most on the team. Foss went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Lake Region State College in hits.

Coach LeProwse commented, “We just couldn’t get anything going offensively in this one. We hit the same pitcher fairly well the day before, but she had our number today. McKenna did another great job by keeping the score down and allowing us the chance to still be in it at the end. I am proud of the way my team played this weekend and hopefully we can keep going in this positive direction.”
