On the home field of Grand Canyon University, their club team was able to split with the Dawson Community College Softball.  In the first game, DCC beat Grand Canyon Club Team 4-2 on Tuesday.

In the first inning, Dawson got their offense started when an error scored one run for the Lady Bucs.  Jordyn O'Neal got the start for the Lady Bucs. She allowed seven hits and two runs over seven innings, striking out three.

Burcham toed the rubber for Grand Canyon Club Team. She allowed 13 hits and four runs over seven innings, striking out one.

Dawson racked up 13 hits. Trinity Anderson, Reannon Justice, Kylee Hergenrider, and Lexi Pettersen each racked up multiple hits for Dawson. Justice and  Anderson each collected three hits to lead Lady Buccaneers.

Gonzales went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Grand Canyon Club Team in hits.

DCC Head Softball Coach Jim LeProwse on the game, "I am happy with us winning the first game, but we struggled to score runs with runners in scoring position. Jordyn O'Neal pitched real well."

However in the second game, Dawson fell short to Grand Canyon, 4-3.  Grand Canyon opened up scoring in the first inning. Sullivan drove in one when she doubled.
In the top of the third inning, Dawson tied things up at three when an error scored two runs for the Lady Bucs.   After Dawson scored one run in the top of the second, Grand Canyon answered with one of their own. Lady Buccaneers scored when an error scored one run for Dawson. Grand Canyon then answered when Sullivan singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.  Grand Canyon Club pulled away for good with one run in the fourth inning. In the fourth Sullivan grounded out, scoring one run.

Mckenna Sorenson led things off on the hill for the Lady Buccaneers. She allowed seven hits and four runs over six innings, striking out two.  Sidra Montoya, Kylee Hergenrider, and Hailee Gregerson each collected one hit to lead Dawson.

Sullivan went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead Grand Canyon in hits.

An unhappy Coach LeProwse expressed, "We did not execute very well to move runners into scoring position as often as we could have. When we did have runners in scoring position, with the middle of our lineup at the plate, we did not drive runs in. We had too many lost chances. McKenna Sorensen pitched well enough to win and we did not support her offensively. Overall, I am proud of the progress we are making. It is a challenge early in the season when all of the teams we are playing have 20 plus games under their belt already. We are also starting 6 or 7 freshman each game and they are really starting to figure things out. I am very excited to see where we will be at with this team in May."
