Trey Fourstar, from Wolf Point, Montana, will be joining the Dawson Buccaneers cross country and track team this coming fall.  Trey has seen the most improvement from his junior year (19:22) to his senior year (17:02) during his high school cross country running career.  Trey received the “Most Inspirational Award” his junior year and “Most Valuable Runner” his senior year.  On reflecting back on his senior season, his most memorable accomplishment was his performance at the Montana State Cross Country Championships in Missoula, Montana.  Trey said, “At the end of the race I had to dig deep to catch up to a St. Labre runner (who placed 15^th) and shave the distance between us before it came to the end.  For me to get that close to him, and to be that close to top 15, I am okay with that (Trey finished 16^th overall). I have had a rough start from freshman to junior year. I have to give credit to our cross-country coach, John Wetsit, who played a role in my performance. He was always the one who kept after me and helped me become a stronger runner.”

Trey is excited to begin his college running career and had this to say about choosing Dawson, “I chose Dawson because I believe it will be a great start for my running career at the next level.  I look forward to running with my new teammates and I hope to create a lasting bond with them. What Coach Sandy had to offer me is what helped me make my decision. I honestly think he can help me improve as a runner.”

Coach Sandy is pleased to have Trey joining the team and is excited for him.  He shared, “Knowing that Trey had a breakthrough senior year during his cross country season, and also knowing how much he can improve based on his motivation to run over the summer, he is going to be a positive role model and teammate.  His leadership will help create a family like atmosphere which is essential in cross country.  When you have five to eight other teammates out on the course battling it out, pushing themselves to their limits, it is comforting to know you have teammates out there with you going after personal best performances and wanting to win so much they will continue digging deep until the very end, just like Trey did at the state meet.”
