2018 NCAA Division II Cross Country Regional Preview Meet

Dawson Community College traveled to Amend Park in Billings, MT on Friday, October 12, 2018, to compete in the 2018 NCAA Division II Regional Preview meet.  This meet included four NCAA Division II universities, along with Dawson.  The men raced a 10k on this day instead of the normal 8k race distance they have been accustomed to.  The day started out at about 43 degrees with winds around 15-20 mph.

The course consisted of four loops around the Amend Park soccer complex with one small incline.  First in for Dawson was Bryce Maxson who traversed the 10K course in 36:56, second in for the team was Eric Amaya who ran 41:45, next in was James Estey in 42:03, Kolte Copp came in fourth for Dawson in 44:12, and Austin Rysavy rounded out the top 5 in 44:55.

DCC Coach Ben Sandy commented, “The men accepted the challenge of running 2k more than they had ever raced before and many of them came through the 8k mark at a personal best time for the season, or at least their second best performance of the year, and they still had 2k to go.  I’m proud of how far these five young men have come in such a short amount of time, and I know they will only continue to get better.  I am very excited to see how the team does this Friday in Dillon, Montana.”

The Dillon meet will be the final regular season meet of the year for the DCC Cross-country program.
